I first met Steve when he joined my Boy Scout Troop 380 as an Assistant Scoutmaster while he was stationed at Mather AFB. He also was Scoutmaster for a short time. He quickly became one of my Mentors in Scouting helping me to achieve my Eagle Scout on Dec 26, 1976. He gave me my Eagle Charge at my Eagle Scout Court of Honor Feb 26, 1977. Even though he was transferred, my Dad managed to keep in touch with him and he spent thanksgiving in 1978 with Steve's Parents in Virginia. Dad had the good fortune of dealing with Steve while working for Boeing COMBS, Mather AFB when Steve was assigned to the USAF aircraft maintenance scheduling office. I left Sacramento, moving to the Washington DC area for 23 years and moved back in 2003. I learned that he was with the US Postal Service as a Mail Carrier in various Sacramento area neighborhoods. I reconnected with Steve shortly after moving back. Steve and I kept in touch and often reminanced about former Scout Leaders in Troop 380. Both of us tried to locate a few of them and sadly did not have much sucess but we kept trying, researching everywhere. Steve would take me to lunch every year for my Birthday which I cherished and I can honestly say he was a lifelong friend with a very outgoing personality whom I will miss tremendously.
